Sensex down 105pts; Bharti up 2%

The Sensex is now down 105 points to 16,741.

Mahindra & Mahindra and Larsen & Toubro have dropped 2.5% each to Rs 764 and Rs 2,826, respectively.

SBI, Reliance Communications, ICICI Bank and Reliance Energy have slipped over 2% each to Rs 1,792, Rs 586, Rs 975 and Rs 1,072, respectively.

NTPC and Bajaj Auto have shed nearly 2% each to Rs 193 and Rs 2,527, respectively.

BHEL, Tata Steel, Maruti and Ambuja Cements are the other major losers.

Bharti Airtel has soared 2% to Rs 963. Hindalco has gained 1.5% at Rs 165.

Out of 2,729 stocks traded so far, 1,842 have declined, 833 have advanced and 54 are unchanged.
