Sensex down 109pts; NTPC soars 5%

The Sensex has slipped back to lower levels and is now down 109 points at 20,719.

Bharti Airtel has tumbled over 6% to Rs 906. Wipro has slumped 4.8% to Rs 463.

Maruti and Infosys have plunged 3.4% each to Rs 868 and Rs 1,527, respectively.

ICICI Bank and HDFC have dropped around 3% each to Rs 1,395 and Rs 2,970, respectively.

NTPC has soared 4.7% to Rs 285. Reliance has surged 2.8% to Rs 3,216.

BHEL and HDFC Bank have advanced 1.3% each to Rs 2,468 and Rs 1,785, respectively.

Reliance Communications and SBI are up 1% each at Rs 802 and Rs 2,462, respectively.

Out of 2,877 stocks traded so far, 1,521 have advanced, 1,330 have declined and 26 are unchanged.
