Sensex down 111pts; TCS, Tata Steel slip 3%

The Sensex is now down 111 points at 17,449.

Bharti Airtel has plunged 4.7% to Rs 923. TCS has dropped 3% to Rs 1,073.

Tata Steel and Satyam have slipped 2.7% each to Rs 828 and Rs 448, respectively. Wipro has shed 2.3% at Rs 489.

Reliance, BHEL and HDFC have declined 1.6% each to Rs 2,428, Rs 2,108 and Rs 2,359, respectively.

Tata Motors and Infosys are down 1.3% each at Rs 771 and Rs 1,884, respectively.

Ambuja Cements and Reliance Energy have soared 3.3% each to Rs 144 and Rs 1,377, respectively.

ACC has surged 2.5% at Rs 1,015. ICICI Bank has rallied nearly 2% to Rs 1,043.

Hindalco, ONGC and Mahindra & Mahindra have gained around 1.5% each at Rs 177, Rs 1,124 and Rs 738, respectively.

The market breadth has turned negative - out of 2,630 stocks traded so far, 1,343 have declined, 1,217 have advanced and 70 are unchanged.
