Sensex down 114pts; Ranbaxy slips 4%

The Sensex is now down 114 points at 10,459.

The index had opened with a negative gap of 52 points at 10,521, and then tumbled to a low of 10,275 - down 298 points from the previous close.

Tata Steel and Hero Honda have gained around 1.5% each at Rs 490 and Rs 785, respectively.

Wipro is up over 1% at Rs 458.

Reliance Energy has shed nearly 5% to Rs 506. Ranbaxy has slipped almost 4% to Rs 417.

Tata Power, HDFC Bank and BHEL have declined over 3% each to Rs 513, Rs 745 and Rs 1,912, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro, HDFC and Tata Motors are down nearly 3% each at Rs 2,204, Rs 1,152 and Rs 755, respectively.

Out of 2,175 stocks traded so far, 1,600 have declined, 522 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
