Satyam has slumped nearly 7% to Rs 812. Hindalco and Tata Steel have dropped 4.5% each to Rs 206 and Rs 616, respectively.
Reliance has plunged 3.6% to Rs 959. Wipro has tumbled over 3% to Rs 537.
NTPC and Dr.Reddy's have shed 2.7% each to Rs 135 and Rs 1,460, respectively.
SBI has declined 2% to Rs 918.
ONGC, ACC, ITC, Bharti Tele, BHEL, Hero Honda and Tata Power are also trading with significant losses.
However, Ranbaxy continues to rule firm with a gain of 5% at Rs 497. Marurti has zoomed 2.5% to Rs 903. HLL is up 1.6% at Rs 281.
The market breadth is fairly negative. Out of 2,474 stocks traded so far, 1,553 have declined, 855 have advanced and 66 are unchanged.
