The Sensex opened weak with a loss of nine points at 7,298 over its last close. It further dipped to a low of 7,284 following early selling pressure in tech stocks and other select old economy counters. The Sensex is now down 12 points at 7,295, while the Nifty is weaker at 2,217 - down two points. Infosys, which announced its Q1 results short while ago, has dropped 2.61% (Rs 60) to Rs 2,255. While TCS has shed 1.60% (Rs 21) to Rs 1,306, Satyam is down a per cent (Rs 5) at Rs 495. Wipro, however, is marginally up at Rs 717. Reliance Industries has gained a per cent (Rs 6) to Rs 639. ONGC and ITC have resumed with steady gains at Rs 928 and Rs 1,709, respectively. HDFC Bank has commenced weak at Rs 660 - down Rs 3. SBI and ICICI Bank are marginally up at Rs 717 and Rs 454, respectively. L&T has lost 1.12% (Rs 14) to Rs 1,232, and Tata Power is down 1.54% (Rs 6) at Rs 391. Bharti is up 1.17% (Rs 3) at Rs 259. Grasim is up a per cent (Rs 11) at Rs 1,097. Other cements majors, too, have commenced in the green. Hero Honda and Maruti have clocked a per cent gain each to Rs 598 (up Rs 6) and Rs 450 (up Rs 4), respectively. Tata Motors has added 1.35% (Rs 6) to Rs 454. |
