Sensex down 12 pts, tech stocks weigh

The market is displaying a fluctuating trend in the afternoon trades. After inching past the yesterday's close shortwhile ago, the Sensex, in current trades, has declined 12 points to 6,881 on continued weakness in tech and other select old economy stocks. The Nifty is up a point at 2,162.

Infosys has shed 1.54% (Rs 35) to Rs 2,216. While Satyam has dipped 2% (Rs 9) to Rs 410, Wipro has lost 1.86% (Rs 13) to Rs 701.

Bharti is still exhibiting weakness and is quoted at Rs 225 - down Rs 5 or 2.15%.

ONGC, however, has advanced 2.41% (Rs 22) to Rs 934, and Reliance is up a per cent (Rs 6) at Rs 593. While ITC has clocked a per cent gain (Rs 12) to Rs 1,383, HLL is up a rupee at Rs 145.

SBI and HDFC Bank have gained up a per cent each to Rs 726 (up Rs 5) and Rs 622 (up Rs 3), respectively. ICICI Bank, however, has lost a per cent (Rs 3) t Rs 388.

Bajaj (up Rs 5 to Rs 1,101) and Maruti (up Rs 3 to Rs 462) and Tata Motors (up Rs 3 to Rs 471) are trading with steady gains. Hero Honda, however, is trading weaker by Rs 3 at Rs 551.

Hindalco at Rs 1,442 (up Rs 8) and HDFC at Rs 807 (up Rs 6) are exhibiting a steady buying trend.
