Sensex down 124pts; HDFC Bank advances 2%

The Sensex is now down 124 points at 14,326.

Jaiprakash Associates has slumped nearly 4% to Rs 154. Reliance has plunged 3.4% to Rs 2,155.

Mahindra & Mahidnra has shed 2.5% at Rs 549. Tata Steel and ICICI Bank have slipped around 2% each to Rs 574 and Rs 644, respectively.

Reliance Communications, Sterlite and DLF have dropped over 1.5% each to Rs 403, Rs 609 and Rs 487, respectively.

HDFC, Tata Motors and Bharti Airtel have also declined around 1.5% each to Rs 2,327, Rs 428 and Rs 802, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro, ONGC and Reliance Infrastructure  are down over 1% each at Rs 2,574, Rs 1,001 and Rs 975, respectively.

 

Satyam has surged 2.4% to Rs 403. Wipro has rallied nearly 2% to Rs 427, and TCS has advanced over 1% to Rs 827.

HDFC Bank has gained over 2% at Rs 1,235. BHEL is up 1% at Rs 1,706.

The market breadth is fairly negative - out of 2,374 stocks traded so far, 1,500 have declined, 780 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
