The Sensex touched a low of 11,527 - down 176 points from the day's high of 11,703. The index is now down 125 points at 11,537. Technology stocks are the biggest losers today. The BSE Teck index has plunged nearly 2% to 2719. The FMCG index is down 1.2% at 2238. The BSE Metal index, however, is up 2.4% at 9855. The market breadth is slightly positive. Out of 2,516 stocks traded so far, 1,354 have moved up, 1,102 have declined and 60 are unchanged. Madras Aluminium has hit the 20% upper limit at Rs 401. Hindustan Zinc, Sterlite Optical, Apar Industries, Cyber Media, SPL, Amara Raja, Zuari Industries, Inox Leisure, West Coast, Sterlite, Thermax and Mirc Electronics are the other major gainers. Shivalik Global has plunged over 12% to Rs 73.30. FCL Technologies, Goodricke, Sesha Paper, Munjal Show, Malu Paper, Gallant Metals, Shree Cement, Hexware, MphasiS BFL, Jet Airways, VSNL, iGate Global and Aventis Pharma are the other prominent losers. |
