Sensex down 134pts; breadth fairly -ve

The market is now closed due to sun outage and should reopen at 1210 hrs. The Sensex is down 134 points at 13,559.

Satyam has tumbled nearly 3% to Rs 324. ICICI Bank and Bharit Airtel have shed 2.5% each at Rs 585 and Rs 790, respectively.

Jaiprakash Associates and Wipro have dropped 2% each to Rs 121 and Rs 363, respectively.

NTPC, Sterlite and SBI have slipped nearly 2% each to Rs 175, Rs 479 and Rs 1,491, respectively.

BHEL, Reliance Infrastructure and ONGC have declined 1.7% each to Rs 1,634, Rs 874 and Rs 1,044, respectively.

ITC has gained 1.6% to Rs 196, and Mahindra & Mahindra is up 1% at Rs 565.

 

The market breadth is fairly negative - out of 2,139 stocks traded so far, 1,271 declined, 773 advanced and 95 were unchanged.
