Sensex down 134pts; HDFC bucks trend

The Sensex continues to remain under pressure, and is now down 134 points at 8,191. Earlier in the day, the index opened 67 points lower today.

Hindustan Unilever has slumped 4.5% to Rs 214. ITC and Jaiprakash Associates have plunged around 3.5% each to Rs 159 and Rs 67, respectively.

Reliance Infrastructure and Sun Pharma have shed 2.8% each at Rs 440 and Rs 994, respectively.

SBI, TCS and Sterlite have dropped 2.3% each to Rs 919, Rs 470 and Rs 244, respectively.

Hindalco, Reliance and Wipro have slipped 2% each to Rs 39, Rs 1,147 and Rs 209, respectively.

 

Bharti Airtel and ICICI Bank have also declined 2% each to Rs 590 and Rs 264, respectively.

HDFC has surged 2.5% to Rs 1,253. Grasim has added 1.3% to Rs 1,422.

The market breadth is fairly negative - out of 1,844 stocks traded so far, 1,082 have declined, 689 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
