Sensex down 136pts; M&M soars 7%

The Sensex is now down 136 points at 9,482.

Jaiprakash Associates has slumped 4.5% to Rs 73. Ranbaxy has plunged 3.7% to Rs 213.

Infosys has tumbled 3.3% to Rs 1,260. ICICI Bank and Bharti Airtel have shed 2.7% each at Rs 423 and Rs 656, respectively.

Maruti and ONGC have dropped 2.3% each to Rs 618 and Rs 691, respectively.

Sterlite, Reliance, Tata Steel and BHEL have slipped around 2% each to Rs 268, Rs 1,357, 187 and Rs 1,422, respectively.

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M has surged 7% to Rs 300. DLF has rallied 3.6% to Rs 156.

Reliance Infrastructure has moved up 1.7% to Rs 551, and Sun Pharma has added 1% to Rs 1,108.

 

The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 2,423 stocks traded so far, 1,344 have advanced, 973 have declined and 106 are unchanged.
