Sensex down 139pts; breadth very -ve

The Sensex plunged to a low of 13,593, and is now down 139 points at 13,661.

SBI has plunged 5.5% (Rs 74) to Rs 1,280. ICICI Bank has tumbled 4.3% to Rs 839, and HDFC Bank has shed 3.6% to Rs 1,046.

Tata Steel has dropped 4% (Rs 19) to Rs 464. Hindalco has slipped 2.5% to Rs 175.

ACC has crumbled 2.5% to Rs 1,078. Dr.Reddy's, Bharti, Larsen & Toubro and Reliance Communications are down nearly 2% each to Rs 621, Rs 1,424 and Rs 439, respectively.

Satyam has spurted 1.5% to Rs 464. Cipla and Infosys are up 1% each at Rs 250 and Rs 2,221, respectively.

The market breadth is extremely negative - out of 2,184 stocks traded so far, 1,417 have declined, 711 have advanced and 56 are unmoved.
