Sensex down 141pts; NTPC gains 3%

The Sensex is now down 141 points at 15,654.

Ambuja Cements, ACC and Satyam have plunged over 5% each to Rs 127, Rs 1,059 and Rs 491, respectively.

Bajaj Auto has tumbled 4% to Rs 2,350. Larsen & Toubro has shed 3.5% to Rs 2,572.

BHEL has slipped over 3% to Rs 1,777. Tata Motors and Reliance Communications have declined 2.5% each to Rs 729 and Rs 563, respectively.

Grasim and Hindalco are down 2% each at Rs 2,960 and Rs 183, respectively.

ITC has zoomed 8.5% to Rs 165. NTPC has surged 2.5% to Rs 168. ONGC has gained 1.3% at Rs 927.

Out of 2,642 stocks traded so far, 1,890 have declined, 709 have advanced and 43 are unchanged.
