Sensex down 142pts; breadth +ve

The Sensex is now down 142 points at 17,149.

Reliance Energy has zoomed 8.6% to Rs 1,309. NTPC has soared 4.7% to Rs 203.

Mahindra & Mahindra has rallied 2.5% to Rs 770. Dr.Reddy's has surged nearly 2% to Rs 661.

Ambuja Cements has gained 1.8% at Rs 146. Hindalco, Cipla, Reliance Communications, Bharti Airtel and ONGC are up over 1% each at Rs 174, Rs 185, Rs 592, Rs 951 and Rs 967, respectively.

TCS, ICICI Bank and SBI have plunged around 2.5% each to Rs 1,029, Rs 1,036 and Rs 1,904, respectively.

BHEL, Wipro, HDFC and Infosys have dropped around 1.8% each to Rs 1,995, Rs 452, Rs 2,483 and Rs 1,863, respectively.

Satyam and Grasim have slipped around 1.5% each to Rs 436 and Rs 3,458, respectively.

The market breadth is positive - out of 2,537 stocks traded so far, 1,428 have advanced, 1,038 have declined and 71 are unchanged.
