Sensex down 149pts; Hindalco spurts 2%

The Sensex is now down 149 points at 13,942.

SBI has tumbled over 6% to Rs 1,100. ICICI Bank has shed 5.5% to Rs 902, and HDFC Bank has dropped 5% to Rs 1,020.

Maruti has slipped nearly 5% to Rs 848, and Grasim have slumped 3.5% to Rs 2,653.

Bajaj Auto, Dr.Reddy's, HDFC, Infosys and Larsen & Toubro are the other major losers.

Hindalco has surged 2% to Rs 145, and Tata Steel has added 1.7% to Rs 439.

Out of 2,253 stocks traded so far, 1,704 have declined, 516 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
