Sensex down 160pts; BHEL drops 3%

The Sensex is now down 160 points at 12,207.

BHEL has dropped 3% to Rs 2,296. TCS has shed 2.5% to Rs 989.

HDFC, HDFC Bank, SBI, ACC, ITC, Hindalco and Satyam have slipped over 2% each to Rs 1,444, Rs 900, Rs 1,012, Rs 970, Rs 184, Rs 169 and Rs 806, respectively.

NTPC, Wipro, Reliance Communications, ONGC, Maruti, Larsen & Toubro, Tata Steel, Dr.Reddy's and HLL are the other major losers.

Bajaj Auto has rallied over 2% to Rs 3,097, and Tata Motors has gained 1.4% at Rs 882.

Out of 2,505 stocks traded so far, 1,352 have declined, 1,079 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
