Sensex down 162pts; Hindalco drops 4%

The Sensex has plunged deeper into red and is now down 162 points at 11,756.

Hindalco has plunged over 4% to Rs 176. Reliance Energy, HLL and Tata Steel have slumped 3% each to Rs 473, Rs 234 and Rs 510, respectively.

HDFC Bank, Tata Motors, Cipla and Maruti have slipped around 2.5% each to Rs 837, Rs 874, Rs 251 and Rs 918, respectively.

Reliance and BHEL are down over 2% each to Rs 1,104 and Rs 2,274, respectively.

Gujarat Ambuja, TCS, Infosys, Ranbaxy, Grasim and SBI are the other major losers.

Hero Honda has gained 1.6% at Rs 748.

Out of 2,272 stocks traded so far, 1,394 have declined, 815 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
