Sensex down 162pts; HLL, Tata Steel slip

The Sensex is now down 162 points at 11,757.

Hindalco has plunged 3.3% to Rs 178. HLL, Tata Steel, HDFC Bank and Reliance Energy have slipped around 2.5% each to Rs 235, Rs 511, Rs 828 and Rs 476, respectively.

Tata Motors and BHEL have dropped 2% each to Rs 880 and Rs 2,282, respectively.

Reliance and Cipla have declined 1.5% each to Rs 1,113 and Rs 253, respectively.

TCS, Gujarat Ambuja, Maruti, Grasim, ACC, Bajaj Auto, Bharti Airtel, Ranbaxy, Infosys, ITC and NTPC are the other major losers.

Hero Honda has advanced 2% to Rs 750. Reliance Communications has spurted 1.3% to Rs 320.

Out of 2,383 stocks traded so far, 1,443 have declined, 883 have advanced and 57 are unchanged.
