Sensex down 164pts; 90% BSE stocks in red

The Sensex continues to languish in negative zone and is now down 164 points at 9793.

Ranbaxy has dropped 5.5% to Rs 367. NTPC has slipped over 5% to Rs 100. SBI is down over 4% at Rs 806.

ONGC has shed 3.2% to Rs 1,007. Tata Steel and Hindalco are down 3% each at Rs 466 and Rs 156, respectively.

HDFC is the sole gainer among the Sensex stocks.

The market breadth continues to remain extremely bearish - out of 2,308 stocks traded so far, 2,103 have declined, 178 have advanced and 27 are unchanged.
