Sensex down 169pts; ACC, RCom drop

The Sensex is now down 169  points at 16,509.

The NSE Nifty is down 56 points at 4,897.

ACC has slumped nearly 4% to Rs 756. Reliance Communications (RCom) have plunged 3% to Rs 525.

Larsen & Toubro, DLF and HDFC Bank have dropped 2.7% each to Rs 3,254, Rs 696 and Rs 1,354, respectively.

BHEL, Infosys and Grasim have slipped around 2% each to Rs 2,053, Rs 1,444 and Rs 2,725, respectively.

Cipla and Bharti Airtel have declined 1.7% each to Rs 208 and Rs 778, respectively.

Tata Steel and Satyam are down over 1% each at Rs 761 and Rs 407, respectively.

HDFC has soared 3.5% to Rs 2,660.

Maruti and Mahindra & Mahindra have surged nearly 2% each to Rs 891 and Rs 697, respectively. Tata Motors is up over 1% at Rs 702.

TCS has gained 1.5% at Rs 858.

Out of 2,375 stocks traded so far, 1,844 have declined, 497 have advanced and 34 are unchanged.
