Sensex down 174pts; Satyam, DLF slip 3%

The Sensex is now down 174 points at 17,592.

The NSE Nifty is down 40 points at 5,160.

Satyam has plunged 3.5% to Rs 423, and DLF has shed 2.8% at Rs 841.

Maruti has slipped over 2% to Rs 813. Infosys, Larsen & Toubro and HDFC Bank have dropped around 1.7% each to Rs 1,519, Rs 3,447 and Rs 1,513, respectively.

Reliance Energy has declined 1.5% to Rs 1,682. HDFC, Tata Motors and Grasim are down 1.3% each to Rs 2,825, Rs 724 and Rs 2,810, respectively.

Bharti Airtel and Reliance Communications are also down over 1% each at Rs 867 and Rs 603, respectively.

Bajaj Auto has rallied nearly 3% to Rs 2,135.

Tata Steel, Hindalco and Ranbaxy have gained 1.3% each at Rs 788, Rs 166 and Rs 385, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever and BHEL are down 1% each at Rs 205 and Rs 2,255, respectively.
