Sensex down 184pts; Bharti surges 4%

The Sensex touched a high of 15,919, and is now down 184  points at 15,791.

The NSE Nifty is down 13 points at 4,758.

Larsen & Toubro has slumped 10% to Rs 2,690. BHEL has plunged 5% to Rs 1,923, and Reliance Energy has tumbled 4.7% to Rs 1,210.

Maruti has dropped over 4% to Rs 894, and Satyam has shed 3% at Rs 411.

HDFC has slipped nearly 2% to Rs 2,580. Grasim and Wipro have declined over 1.5% each to Rs 2,737 and Rs 409, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever, Reliance and Reliance Communications are down over 1% each to Rs 224, Rs 2,222 and Rs 537, respectively.

Bharti Airtel has surged 4% to Rs 781. Cipla has soared 3.3% to Rs 207, and ONGC has rallied nearly 3% to Rs 983.

HDFC Bank and Tata Steel have advanced around 2.5% each to Rs 1,319 and Rs 790, respectively.

SBI, Mahindra & Mahindra and ACC are up around 2% each at Rs 1,880, Rs 677 and Rs 748, respectively.

Out of 2,578 stocks traded so far, 2,143 have declined, 402 have advanced and 33 are unchanged.
