Sensex down 200pts; breadth fairly -ve

The Sensex is now down 203 points at 8,752.

Reliance Infrastructure has slumped 5.5% to Rs 481. ACC and Mahindra & Mahindra have plunged 5% each to Rs 532 and Rs 305, respectively.

Wipro and ONGC have tumbled around 4.5% each to Rs 206 and Rs 684, respectively.

Maruti and Sterlite have dropped over 4% each to Rs 667 and Rs 243, respectively. Bharti Airtel has shed nearly 4% at Rs 627.

TCS and Reliance Communications have slipped 3.5% each to Rs 465 and Rs 153, respectively.

ICICI Bank, Grasim and Tata Steel have declined over 3% each to Rs 314, Rs 1,412 and Rs 158, respectively.

 

Reliance, Tata Power, Jaiprakash Associates and Ranbaxy are down nearly 3% each.

HDFC, however, has surged 3% to Rs 1,247.

The market breadth is fairly negative - out of 2,179 stocks traded, 1,361 declined, 731 advanced and the rest were unchanged.
