Sensex down 201pts; Reliance Energy slumps 5%

The Sensex opened with a negative gap of 52 points at 10,521. The index soon tumbled to a low of 10,275 - down 298 points from the previous close.

The index is now down 201 points at 10,372.

Reliance Energy has plunged over 5% to Rs 504. BHEL has shed 4.7% to Rs 1,880.

Hindalco and Bharti Tele have dropped 3.5% each to Rs 179 and Rs 358, respectively.

Tata Motors and HDFC have declined 3% each to Rs 752 and Rs 1,150, respectively.

Hero Honda and Reliance are the only gainers among the Sensex stocks.
