Sensex down 204pts; Ranbaxy slips 4%

The market has re-opened after the sun outage period, and the Sensex is now down 204 points at 13,343.

Ranbaxy has slumped 3.8% to Rs 285. ONGC, ICICI Bank and HDFC have plunged over 3% each to Rs 1,036, Rs 577 and Rs 2,100, respectively.

TCS and Tata Motors have tumbled 2.8% each to Rs 671 and Rs 374, respectively.

Stertlite, Reliance Communications and Tata Steel have shed 2.5% each at Rs 465, Rs 356 and Rs 474, respectively.

HDFC Bank and BHEL have dropped 2.3% each to Rs 1,268 and Rs 1,595, respectively.

DLF, Larsen & Toubro and Mahindra & Mahindra are down 1.8% each at Rs 382, Rs 2,520 and Rs 549, respectively.

 

Jaiprakash Associates has gained 2% at Rs 126, and Hindustan Unilever has advanced over 1% to Rs 253.

The market breadth is fairly negative - out of 2,164 stocks traded so far, 1,448 have declined, 629 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
