The Sensex opened with a negative gap of 292 points at 14,064. The index is now down 215 points at 14,141.
The NSE Nifty is down 62 points at 4,271.
Reliance Communications has slumped 14% (Rs 69) to Rs 431.
DLF has plunged 4% to Rs 489. Tata Power and HDFC Bank have dropped over 2.5% each to Rs 1,130 and Rs 1,068, respectively.
Satyam, SBI and Maruti have shed 2.3% each at Rs 371, Rs 1,382 and Rs 562, respectively.
Bharti Airtel and HDFC have slipped 2% each to Rs 783 and Rs 2,233, respectively.
Tata Steel has surged nearly 2% to Rs 667. NTPC is up 1% at Rs 172.
