Sensex down 220pts in early trades

The Sensex today has opened with a negative gap of 246 points at 11,774 following weak cues from the US and Asian markets. Exit polls has also added to the worries.

The index is now down 220 points at 11,799.

Bharti Airtel has slumped 4% to Rs 767. Sterlite, Tata Motors and ICICI Bank has shed 3.5% each to Rs 458, Rs 259 and Rs 530, respectively.

Tata Steel and Hindalco have declined 3% each to Rs 257 and Rs 69, respectively.

HDFC, Reliance Infrastructure, Jaiprakash Associates, HDFC Bank, Tata Power, Wipro and Infosys have declined 2% each.

Reliance Communications, Reliance, Ranbaxy, Larsen & Toubro, SBI, DLF, HIndustan Unilever, ONGC and Maruti Suzuki are also down.
