Sensex down 226pts; Hindalco sheds 4%

The Sensex is now down 226 points to 15,082.

Hindalco has plunged 3.5% to Rs 156. SBI has tumbled 3% to Rs 1,654.

Ranbaxy and Reliance Energy have shed 2.8% each to Rs 371 and Rs 761, respectively.

Ambuja Cements, ONGC, Reliance and ITC have slipped over 2% each to Rs 127, Rs 869, Rs 1,837 and Rs 164, respectively.

ACC and Grasim have dropped 1.7% each to Rs 1,007 and Rs 2,939, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro and HDFC are down 1.5% each at Rs 2,455 and Rs 2,035, respectively.

BHEL has surged 1.7% to Rs 1,742. Cipla and Dr.Reddy's are up 1.3% each at Rs 189 and Rs 638, respectively.

Out of 2,651 stocks traded so far, 1,530 have declined, 1,070 have advanced and 51 are unchanged.
