Sensex down 227pts; NTPC, DLF down 6%

The Sensex is now down 227 points at 18,375.

NTPC and DLF have slumped around 6% each to Rs 225 and Rs 820, respectively.

Reliance Energy has tumbled over 5% to Rs 1,605. ONGC has plunged 4.5% to Rs 1,138.

Larsen & Toubro has dropped over 4% to Rs 3,933. Tata Steel, HDFC and Bharti Airtel have shed 2% each to Rs 803, Rs 2,545 and Rs 880, repsectively.

SBI has zoomed 5% to Rs 2,264. Bajaj Auto has advanced over 1% to Rs 2,450.

Out of 2,777 stocks traded so far, 2,113 have declined, 624 have advanced and 40 are unchanged.
