Sensex down 228pts; Satyam, Maruti slip 3%

The Sensex is now down 228 points at 10,630.

Reliance Communications (RCL) has plunged 5% to Rs 255. Hindalco has dropped 4.3% to Rs 175. Tata Motors has tumbled nearly 4% to Rs 740.

Satyam, Maruti and Grasim have slipped over 3% each to Rs 721, Rs 789 and Rs 1,978, respectively.

Wipro, Dr.Reddy's, Bajaj Auto and Bharti Airtel are the other prominent losers among the index stocks.

Out of 2,154 stocks traded so far, 1,415 have declined, 666 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
