Sensex down 230pts; ACC surges 4%

The Sensex is now down 230 points at 19,060.

Bharti Airtel has slumped 5.4% to Rs 852.

HDFC Bank, Wipro and ONGC have plunged over 3% each to Rs 1,564, Rs 462 and Rs 1,248, respectively.

ICICI Bank has dropped 2.5% to Rs 1,173. SBI and Reliance Communications have slipped around 2% each to Rs 2,220 and Rs 713, respectively.

Cipla and Infosys have shed 1.5% each at Rs 177 and Rs 1,719, respectively.

Grasim, Satyam and Tata Steel are down over 1% each.

ACC has soared 3.5% to Rs 1,064. HDFC and Hindalco have surged nearly 2% each to Rs 2,619 and Rs 192, respectively.

Reliance Energy has gained 1.5% at Rs 1,848. Ranbaxy, Hindustan Unilever, Maruti and Larsen & Toubro are up over 1% each at Rs 433, Rs 195, Rs 1,008 and Rs 4,160, respectively.

Out of 2,659 stocks traded so far, 1,461 have declined, 1,119 have advanced and 79 are unchanged.
