Sensex down 236pts; Hindalco firm

The Sensex is now down 236 points at 19,355.

Reliance Communications has slumped over 4% to Rs 747. Bharti Airtel has tumbled 3% to Rs 914.

Satyam and ICICI Bank have shed 2.5% each to Rs 452 and Rs 1,240, respectively.

Tata Motors and Tata Steel have slipped over 2% each to Rs 723 and Rs 861, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro, Grasim and SBI have declined around 1.5% each to Rs 4,219, Rs 3,650 and Rs 2,209, respectively.

Hindalco has zoomed 4.5% to Rs 192. Bajaj Auto, Dr.Reddy's and Reliance Energy have surged 2.3% each to Rs 2,450, Rs 615 and Rs 1,861, respectively.

BHEL has moved up 1.8% to Rs 2,712. NTPC and ITC have advanced 1.5% each to Rs 241 and Rs 174, respectively.

Out of 2,771 stocks traded so far, 1,479 have advanced, 1,226 have declined and 66 are unchanged.
