Sensex down 238pts; breadth fairly -ve

The Sensex has shed 238 points at 13,309 in the pre sun-outage trading session. The market will re-open at 1210 hrs.

ICICI Bank and HDFC have plunged over 3.5% each to Rs 574 and Rs 2,088, respectively.

Ranbaxy, ONGC and HDFC Bank have tumbled over 3% each to Rs 287, Rs 1,037 and Rs 1,258, respectively.

BHEL, Reliance Communications and TCS have also shed 3% each at Rs 1,584, Rs 354 and Rs 670, respectively.

Tata Steel, SBI and Tata Motors have slipped 2.5% each to Rs 473, Rs 1,457 and Rs 375, respectively.

Sterlite, Larsen & Toubro, Mahindra & Mahindra and DLF have declined 2% each to Rs 467, Rs 2,513, Rs 548 and Rs 382, respectively.

 

Jaiprakash Associates has moved up over 1.5% to Rs 125, and Hindustan Unilever has advanced over 1% to Rs 252.

The market breadth is fairly negative - out of 2,130 stocks traded so far, 1,428 have declined, 613 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
