Sensex down 243pts; Bharti gains 3%

The NSE Nifty is down 58 points at 4,888.

Ambuja Cements has tumbled 5.6% to Rs 96. Jaiprakash Associates has plunged 5% to Rs 226.

BHEL has slipped 4.5% to Rs 1,668, while Reliance Communications has declined 4.4% to Rs 547.

Reliance Infrastructure has dropped 3.7% to Rs 1,243 and ITC has shed 3.5% tp Rs 206.

Hindalco is trading at Rs 187 - down around 3%.

Larsen & Toubro, ICICI Bank and Maruti have slipped 2.7% each to Rs 2,766, Rs 840 and Rs 769, respectively.

HDFC, Tata Steel and SBI are down around 2% each to Rs 2,620, Rs 879 and Rs 1,544, respectively.

 

Tata Motors and ACC have shed 1,7% each to Rs 626 and Rs 656, respectively.

Bharti Airtel and Infosys have surged 3% each to Rs 862 and Rs 1,881, respectively.

TCS has gained 2.5% to Rs 957, and NTPC has advanced nearly 1% at Rs 178.
