Sensex down 247pts; Cipla plunges 16%

The Sensex is now down 247 points at 13,982.

Cipla has slumped 16% to Rs 213. ICICI Bank, Reliance, ONGC and Tata Steel have dropped nearly 3% each to Rs 937, Rs 1,553, Rs 934 and Rs 546, respectively.

HDFC has shed 2% to Rs 1,700. SBI, Bharti Airtel, Grasim have slipped 1.5% each to Rs 1,128, Rs 849, Rs 2,460 and Rs 757, respectively.

Tata Motors is down 1.3% each to Rs 757.

Satyam has surged 2.5% to Rs 472. Bajaj Auto and Maruti have advanced 1.3% each to Rs 2,525 and Rs 807, respectively.

Out of 2,395 stocks traded so far, 1,532 have declined, 794 have advanced and 69 are unchanged.
