Sensex down 257pts; Tata Motors down 3.4%

The Sensex  is now down 257 points to 16,985 points. The Nifty is trading at 5045 points, down 72 points.

Only TCS and Satyam have gained among the Sensex stocks. TCS is 1.2% higher at Rs 975, and Satyam has advanced 0.59% to Rs 495.

Tata Motors has lost 3.4% to Rs 665. Reliance Infra is down 3% to Rs 1,336, ICICI Bank has declined 2.8% at Rs 885. Jaiprakash Associates and M&M are down 2.3% at Rs 241 and Rs 651 respectively.

 HDFC, Maruti, HDFC Bank,  L&T, Hindalco, Bhel, ONGC and Reliance Communications are the major losers.
