Sensex down 258pts; Tata Steel sheds 4%

 Tata Steel has slumped 4% to Rs 616, and Tata Motors has tumbled 3.7% to Rs 685.

HDFC has dropped 3.5% to Rs 1,832. SBI and Reliance have slipped 3.3% each to Rs 1,389 and Rs 1,689, respectively.

 BHEL and ICICI Bank have shed 3% each to Rs 1,341 and Rs 912, respectively.

HDFC Bank, ONGC and Maruti are down 1.8% each to Rs 1,127, Rs 869 and Rs 778, respectively.

Hindalco has moved up 1.5% to Rs 148.

Out of 2,584 stocks traded so far, 1,716 have declined, 802 have advanced and 66 are unchanged.
