Sensex down 264pts; Tata Steel drops 6%

The Sensex touched a low of 9,023, and is now down 264 points at 9,041.

ICICI Bank and Tata Steel have slumped nearly 6% each to Rs 385 and Rs 173, respectively. DLF has plunged 5.5% to Rs 147.

Hindalco and Mahindra & Mahindra have tumbled nearly 5% each to Rs 42 and Rs 299, respectively.

HDFC Bank and Reliance Communications have dropped over 4% each to Rs 877 and Rs 164, respectively.

Tata Power, TCS, Reliance Infrastructure and Infosys have slipped over 3.5% each to Rs 747, Rs 483, Rs 514 and Rs 1,180, respectively.

Reliance, Wipro and Maruti have declined over 3% each to Rs 1,275, Rs 209 and Rs 601, respectively.

 

HDFC and ACC are down 3% each at Rs 1,454 and Rs 545, respectively.

The market breadth is very negative - out of 2,331 stocks traded so far, 1,682 declined, 541 advanced and the rest were unchanged.
