Sensex down 267pts; Hindalco tumbles 13%

The Sensex is now down 267 points at 14,272.

Hindalco has tumbled nearly 13% to Rs 151. Tata Motors, Reliance Energy and Reliance Communications have plunged over 3% each to Rs 876, Rs 538 and Rs 461, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro and BHEL have shed nearly 3% each to Rs 1,667 and Rs 2,433, respectively. Ranbaxy and ICICI Bank have dropped 2.5% each to Rs 406 and Rs 968, respectively.

HDFC, Grasim, Bajaj Auto, Maruti, Gujarat Ambuja, ACC and Reliance are the other major losers.

Out of 2,594 stocks traded so far, 2,235 have declined, 339 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
