Sensex down 26pts; HDFC slips 2%

The Sensex is now down 26 points at 12,902.

Satyam has surged 2.3% to Rs 446. SBI has spurted 1.2% to Rs 1,039.

Tata Steel and Hindalco are up nearly 1% each at Rs 516 and Rs 184, respectively. Wipro and HDFC Bank are the other prominent gainers.

HDFC has shed 1.7% to Rs 1,520. HLL has slipped 1.3% to Rs 234.

NTPC, Grasim and Infosys have declined 1% each to Rs 130, Rs 2,642 and Rs 2,077, respectively.

Tata Motors, Bharti Airtel and Maruti are the other major losers.

Out of 2,230 stocks traded so far, 1,297 have declined, 862 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
