Sensex down 273pts; Satyam, Infosys weak

The Sensex is now down 273 points at 17,461.

The NSE Nifty is down 65 points at 5,127.

Bajaj Auto has plunged 3% to Rs 2,340. HDFC and ICICI Bank have shed 2.5% each at Rs 2,578 and Rs 1,115, respectively.

Satyam and Infosys have also tumbled 2.5% each to Rs 447 and Rs 1,591, respectively.

SBI and Reliance Energy have slipped over 2% each to Rs 2,134 and Rs 1,562, respectively.

HDFC Bank, Reliance and Wipro are down nearly 2% each to Rs 1,515, Rs 2,457 and Rs 424, respectively.

Cipla has gained 1.7% at Rs 192.
