Sensex down 274pts; Hindalco drops 5%

The Sensex is now down 274 points at 13,273.

Ranbaxy has slumped nearly 6% to Rs 279. Hindalco has plunged nearly 5% to Rs 100.

ICICI Bank and BHEL have shed 4% each at Rs 572 and Rs 1,569, respectively.

Tata Motors has tumbled 3.6% to Rs 370. Mahindra & Mahindra, HDFC Bank and DLF have dropped 3.3% each to Rs 540, Rs 1,256 and Rs 376, respectively.

HDFC, Reliance Infrastructure and Sterlite have slipped 3% each to Rs 2,099, Rs 851 and Rs 463, respectively.

Reliance Communications, Larsen & Toubro and Tata Steel have declined nearly 3% each to Rs 355, Rs 2,495 and Rs 472, respectively.

 

Grasim, ONGC and Maruti are down 2.3% each at Rs 1,823, Rs 1,046 and Rs 688, respectively.

ITC has surged 2.5% to Rs 193, and Hindustan Unilever has added 1.3% to Rs 253.

Out of 2,571 stocks traded so far, 1,966 have declined, 526 have advanced and 79 are unchanged.
