Sensex down 276pts; Hindalco plunges 6%

The Sensex is now down 276 points at 17,482.

The NSE Nifty is down 79 points at 5,089.

Hindalco has slumped over 6% to Rs 165. Reliance Energy and NTPC have plunged over 3.5% each to Rs 1,919 and Rs 194, respectively.

DLF and Reliance have tumbled around 3% each to Rs 835 and Rs 2,397, respectively.

Satyam, ITC and Tata Steel have shed 2.7% each at Rs 384, Rs 704 and Rs 194, respectively.

HDFC and Ranbaxy have slipped 2.3% each to Rs 2,825 and Rs 347, respectively.

Reliance Communications has dropped 2% to Rs 600. SBI has shed 1.8% at Rs 2,181.

ACC, Wipro and ICICI Bank have declined 1.5% each to Rs 785, Rs 406 and Rs 1,168, respectively.

ONGC and Bharti Airtel have rallied 2% each to Rs 988 and Rs 869, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever is up over 1% at Rs 199.
