Sensex down 278pts; Ranbaxy sheds 6%, ITC gains 3%

The Sensex is now down 278 points at 13,269.

Ranbaxy has slumped 5.7% to Rs 279. ICICI Bank and Hindalco have plunged 3.7% each to Rs 574 and Rs 101, respectively.

Sterlite, Reliance Communications and HDFC have tumbled around 3.5% each to Rs 460, Rs 353 and Rs 2,094, respectively.

DLF, BHEL and Tata Motors have dropped over 3% each to Rs 377, Rs 1,581 and Rs 372, respectively.

Reliance Infrastructure, HDFC Bank and Mahindra & Mahindra have slipped around 3% each to Rs 851, Rs 1,260 and Rs 543, respectively.

ONGC and Tata Steel have declined 2.5% each to Rs 1,045 and Rs 474, respectively.

 

Larsen & Toubro, TCS, Maruti and NTPC are down over 2% each at Rs 2,509, Rs 675, Rs 689 and Rs 175, respectively.

ITC has surged nearly 3% to Rs 194, and Hindustan Unilever has added 1.4% to Rs 253.

Out of 2,521 stocks traded so far, 1,911 have declined, 534 have advanced and 76 are unchanged.
