Sensex down 27pts; breadth marginally -ve

The Sensex is now down 27 points at 8,975.

Tata Motors has tumbled nearly 4% to Rs 165, and Larsen & Toubro has plunged 3.6% at Rs 588.

ICICI Bank has shed 2.7% at Rs 329, and BHEL has dropped 2.3% to Rs 1,380.

Ranbaxy and Maruti have slipped nearly 2% each to Rs 144 and Rs 717, respectively. DLF is down 1% at Rs 172.

Hindalco has soared over 5% to Rs 47. ONGC has surged 2.5% to Rs 748.

Tata Power and HDFC have rallied over 2% each to Rs 677 and Rs 1,418, respectively.

Tata Steel has gained nearly 2% at Rs 176. Sterlite and Reliance Communications have added 1.5% each to Rs 319 and Rs 159, respectively.

 

The market breadth is marginally negative - out of 2,492 stocks traded so far, 1,207 have declined, 1,185 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
