Sensex down 283pts; Rel Com, BHEL slip 3%

The Sensex is now down 283 points at 17,792.

The NSE Nifty is down 84 points at 5,196.

HDFC Bank, Reliance Communications and BHEL have plunged around 3.5% each to Rs 1,512, Rs 584 and Rs 2,148, respectively.

ICICI Bank, HDFC and Bharti Airtel have tumbled 3% each to Rs 1,181, Rs 2,775 and Rs 862, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever has shed 2.8% at Rs 215. ITC and NTPC have dropped 2.3% each to Rs 201 and Rs 200, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro and Tata Motors have slipped 2% each to Rs 3,480 and Rs 723, respectively.

DLF, Grasim and SBI are down 1.8% each at Rs 827, Rs 2,810 and Rs 2,223, respectively.

Satyam has moved up 2.3% to Rs 432.

Infosys, Wipro and Hindalco are up over 1% each at Rs 1,578, Rs 418 and Rs 182, respectively.
