Sensex down 29pts; Tata Tea soars 4%

The Sensex is now down 29 points at 14,189.

Tata Tea surged to a high of Rs 941, and is now up over 4% at Rs 917 on a report on the website of The New York Times that Coca-Cola board has agreed to buy vitamin water maker Glaceau for $4.2 billion in cash and stock. The deal is likely to be announced later today.

HLL and Larsen & Toubro have moved up over 1.5% each to Rs 204 and Rs 1,729, respectively.

Gujarat Ambuja has dropped nearly 2% to Rs 113. HDFC Bank and Tata Tea have slipped around 1.5% each to Rs 1,074 and Rs 623, respectively.

Cipla, ACC and HDFC are down over 1% each to Rs 204, Rs 848 and Rs 1,736, respectively.

Out of 2,445 stocks traded so far, 1,251 have advanced, 1,108 have declined and 86 are unchanged.
