The Sensex opened with a negative gap of 445 points at 13,086, and soon touched a low of 13,052. The index recovered partially and touched a high of 13,297, and is now down 305 points at 13,226.
While Satyam has plunged over 6% to Rs 345, DLF has slumped nearly 6% to Rs 408. Ranabxy has shed 5.5% at Rs 397.
Jaiprakash Associates has dropped 4.8% to Rs 140. ICICI Bank has slipped 4.5% to Rs 600. 396.
Bharti Airtel has declined 3.7% to Rs 737. Reliance Infrastructure and HDFC have shed 3.3% each at Rs 811 and Rs 2,132, respectively.
Reliance Communications, ACC, Tata Steel, TCS and Sterlite are down 3% each.
