Sensex down 314pts; Rel Energy drops 9%

The Sensex is now down 314 points at 17,684.

Reliance Communications has zoomed nearly 4% to Rs 739.

HDFC Bank and TCS have surged around 2% each at Rs 1,407 and Rs 1,140, respectively.

Wipro has gained 1.7% at Rs 505. Infosys and Ranbaxy have advanced 1.3% each to Rs 1,915 and Rs 427, respectively.

ACC and Dr.Reddy's are the other major gainers.

Reliance Energy has tumbled over 9% to Rs 1,445. BHEL and Maruti have plunged around 6% each to Rs 2,048 and Rs 1,082, respectively.

Tata Steel has slumped 5% to Rs 793. Reliance has dropped 4.5% to Rs 2,460.

Hindalco has shed 3.7% to Rs 180. Bharti Airtel, SBI, NTPC and ICICI Bank have slipped 3% each to Rs 987, Rs 1,625, Rs 202 and Rs 1,009, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro has declined 2.5% to Rs 3,070. Tata Motors, Ambuja Cements and HDFC are down around 2% each at Rs 766, Rs 142 and Rs 2,400, respectively.
